DNA Intelligence: asking precise questions and checking the answer
AI-assisted analysis can help explore a question, explain a result or suggest where to investigate. It is most useful when the question identifies the business event, period and desired comparison. A fluent explanation still needs to agree with the relevant data.
“Why are sales lower?” leaves several meanings open. A more useful question identifies whether sales means orders or invoices, which periods are being compared, and whether the comparison should include particular customers or products.
Conversation in DNA
DNA's report chat sends the question to its analysis service and carries a conversation-session reference into follow-up questions. It presents returned narrative, result information and supported charts. The request also has a row bound; a response should not be assumed to include an unlimited dataset.
A follow-up can depend on the earlier question's context. If the topic changes from invoice performance to cash collection, state the new scope explicitly rather than assuming the previous context is still appropriate.
Read the result critically
Check which records and period the answer describes, how a measure is defined and whether the result supports the explanation. A change in invoiced sales does not by itself identify the reason for the change. Customer mix, returns, timing and missing records may need separate investigation.
If an answer returns no rows, distinguish a successful empty result from an error. DNA's chat handles successful responses and errors separately. An error message is not evidence that the requested business activity is absent.
From explanation to action
Suppose the answer highlights a decline concentrated in one customer. Emily should compare the relevant source records and period before changing a forecast or assigning a cause. The explanation is a starting point for evidence-based review.
Clearing the conversation resets its visible context and requests session cleanup. It is not proof that every server-side record has been erased. Use a new, clearly scoped question when the analysis changes, and base material decisions on verified reports and transactions.
